No Human Required
All day long our wildlife GPS advertise themselves out into the ether. If there is a base station within range, GPS and activity data can be collected.
This process is automatic. There are things you can do to help, such as getting the base station into a clear line of sight. But the data transfer happens all by itself.
The data transfer continues until either all of the data in the GPS device has been received by the base station or the signal received at the base station is no longer sufficient to receive the data. Either way, the system is smart enough to know which data have and which have not been received by a base station. You won’t have to worry about losing data.
After the data are received by a base station, they will not be transmitted again. However, the data will be retained in the GPS device’s memory.

This depends on several factors including the battery technology, the temperature during the study, the capacity of the battery, the amount of current required by the GPS, the habitat, the GPS schedule and much more.
All of our products can send you information by satellite. The range of the data download varies depending upon conditions. The radio portion of the download has been demonstrated to work up to 40 km., but this is maximum under ideal conditions.
If we (you and us) discuss everything during the sales process then we will know how to optimize the accessibility of your GPS data.
