Optimizing Wildlife Data Retrieval with More Frequent Data Download Opportunities

In the constant changing field of wildlife research, efficiency is one of the keys to successful data collection and analysis. Our state-of-the-art GPS tracking devices are designed specifically to cater to the unique needs of biologists working in the field. These devices transmit precise GPS location data over a wireless transceiver to a small handheld mobile base station. By default, they advertise their presence to the base station every 10th minute, but this standard interval can hinder productivity, particularly when researchers are managing multiple tracking devices simultaneously.

Recognizing the need for flexibility, we empower customers to modify the advertising interval of their GPS devices before deployment. This adaptability allows researchers to customize the GPS devices’ advertising interval to suit their operational needs. For example, reducing the advertisement interval to just 15 seconds allows biologists to receive up to 40 data downloading opportunities during a 10-minute window. This represents a major increase in data downloading opportunities, smoothing out field operations and minimizing wasted time during the wait for critical location updates.

Allowing the researcher to adjust the advertising intervals allows us to help them make every minute count for getting timely and relevant data. By doing so, we allow biologists to focus on the very important job of understanding and conserving wildlife while we take on delivering accurate location information with ease.
