Choose Between Basic or Programmable VHF
Admitted that in certain circumstances it might be easier to get a remote download of information than to get a VHF signal, the VHF tracking part of the kit is something that most wildlife biologists still want. We have 2 types of VHF transmitter. One is relatively straightforward and uses less power, the other is more flexible but requires more power.
As we go along with information collection, we can discuss the pros and cons of each system. The programmable system allows you to have choices like having the VHF off for several weeks, or on and off throughout the year or even the day. And we have come up with a way of the VHF always knowing what time it is so that you do not have to worry about the time wandering off and an unreliable schedule.
